IT'S A BOY!
We went for our 19-week appointment and ultrasound on December 10th, and, although everyone back home seemed to think it was a girl, the Colorado people guessed correctly...there was no doubt once we started the ultrasound that we had a little Wilson in there! It was the most amazing experience yet!
The ultrasound tech, Susie, has roots in Ohio, New Philadelphia to be exact, which is about 15 minutes from where Jason was born and raised, so the two of them hit it off right away. She took her time with the scan, and reassured us every step of the way...we saw all four chambers of the heart pumping away, the kidneys working hard, the bones of his spine, his hand waving at us, legs kicking, etc. and every step of the way, she would say, "he's a healthy little boy", and "I wouldn't send him back if I were you"...it was music to our ears to know he's healthy, and he appeared content too--God is GOOD!! :)
We met with Dr. Owens after the ultrasound, she reviewed everything, and she said everything looks right on schedule! So, my next appointment with her is January 8th and from there I start going in every 2 weeks. I am seeing the diabetes specialist once a month as well, which means more frequent ultrasounds as we go further, so stay tuned!
I keep hearing that things will progress pretty quickly from this point. We have already scheduled our tour of the birthing units and our info session with the doulas for January, then we have our birthing and breastfeeding classes scheduled for March, my mom is coming out to visit sometime in March as well, and then our due date is May 3rd! We registered the Friday after Christmas at babies r us (that was an adventure), and we are hoping to pick out some nursery furniture soon and get to work on his room sooner than later. So, I'd say we have enough to keep us busy for the next four months while we anxiously await his arrival.
We'll keep you posted more often now, as the appointments and activities start picking up as we head into the third trimester, so stay tuned! Please continue to pray for us, as we do all of you! :)
Happy New Year too! May God bless you all!
