So, not much new to report, other than yesterday marked the beginning of my 13-week point! Praise God! :) Finally...the number 13 is a lucky (or should I say blessed) number! I still get confused though because according to my pregnancy journal and the doctor, I'm entering my 2nd trimester now; however, my baby center email notifications and my What To Expect book still count the 13th week as the last week in the first trimester, so I don't know who's counting is correct. I'd like to look at this week as another milestone and as the start of something new, so I think that's what we're going with.
The nausea has subsided a bit, but I still have plenty of food aversions that are definitely a day-to-day thing. I mean, since when have I been a picky eater? ;0) Ha Ha! I'm also still pretty tired, but even that is starting to get a bit better, probably because I really minimized my social calendar and have been trying to have more "off" days when I can relax instead of running all over town. Everything I read tells me that I'm right on track symptoms wise and baby wise, so that is reassuring to me.
Our next appointment is Wednesday, November 12th for the 15-week appointment. I'll have my first glucose testing done then (YUM-O from what I hear! ;0) ha ha), and I'll also have all of my 14 week blood work done at that time as well. From there on out I should be seen every 4 weeks until I get to the every 2-week visits. So, that being said, we should get to see the baby again via ultrasound at week 19 and find out whether we are having a boy or a girl...I can't wait...that will be the best Christmas present EVER! :)
Gotta run for now...I'll see if Jason can figure out how to load some recent pics soon. Please continue the prayers!
Hope everyone is well! Love and miss you all!

the 11th year surprise!
So, I have to give Jason props...after 11 years of marriage, he pulled off a big early birthday surprise for me last night! He's had this plan in the works with a friend of ours since March and he kept it a secret!
I thought that we were supposed to go to Keystone in the mountains this weekend with said friends to stay at their condo. Well, turns out their condos were being painted this weekend, so we were just going to meet them downtown for dinner last night. Little did I know, there was more to come.
Apparently, when Jim Gaffigan (probably my favorite comedian) tickets went on sale in March for this October show, he and Jaqui got to work at planning this surprise. So, we met up with Jaqui, Max, and Deb for dinner at this great little cajun place downtown (Hello--they have fried pickles--what's not to like? ;0) he he) and had a great meal. Well, when they arrived they were all like "Happy birthday" and, "I can't believe we kept the surprise for this long"...and I was like, "Huh? my birthday isn't for 2 weeks and what surprise?" still in the dark (remember, I'm gifted ;0) he he). So, Jason turns to me and asks me if I wanted to order a Hot Pocket...I started to connect the dots b/c Jim Gaffigan does a HILARIOUS bit about Hot Pockets, and then of course I figured it out :)
So, we finished dinner and headed on down to the Buell Theater to see Jim perform...and, let me just say, he did not disappoint! He was even funnier in person than he is on the shows we've seen...he even busted out a joke about West Virginia!! (I think that was arranged for my birthday ;0) he he).
Both momma and baby were content with a belly full of fried pickles and laughter to spare! :)
So, Kudos to my wonderful husband Jason...but, now that you've pulled off one surprise...let the games begin! ;0)

10 weeks and going strong...
Yesterday was our first non-specialist OBGYN appointment. I must say, it was a much different experience than the specialist care we've been getting, but the good news is, everything looks good so far!! God Is Good! :)
The doctor did an ultrasound and the little kumquat (that's what size the baby is this week) decided to do a little dance for us while on screen (Hmmm...I can't imagine what side of the family that exhibitionist side of the baby comes from :) ha ha). I told Jason the baby was doing a cheer, but he thinks it was catching a football--only time will tell :)
For now, I'm just trying to get as much rest as possible and trying to find foods that agree with me so that I'm not so nauseous all the time. Things seem to have improved a bit over the past couple of days--I actually made it through a few full days at work, so that was progress for sure.
We will probably undergo some more testing over the next couple of weeks and then my next OB visit to discuss those results, as well as have more tests done (glucose, RH, etc), is at week 15 and every 4 weeks thereafter.
For now, just keep the prayers going up for a healthy, happy baby :)

The first post--The creation of the blog.
I never thought I'd be a "blogger", but now that Jason and I are expecting our first baby (Praise God!), we thought it would be a good way for us to keep in touch with family and friends who don't live in the greater Denver area and get to hear our stories of progress every day, nor most other day-to-day news...I mean, c'mon, phone conversations are SO yesterday! ;0)
To start, I thought some of you might be curious as to where we came up with the name of the blog. Well, my wonderful husband, in true George Burns fashion (remember, "Goodnight, Gracie?"), decided as soon as we found out we were pregnant that he would tuck the baby and me in every night and he would be sure to tell each of us goodnight with a kiss on the forehead to me, and a kiss on the belly for the baby, followed by "Goodnight, baby" after each kiss. So, there you go...to sweet of a memory not to honor :)
I should be working now instead of blogging, so, now that you know the background of the blog, there will be plenty of entries to follow...
Have a wonderful day! :) We miss and love you all!!
